Three months after fitting a DetExt F/F system within the electrical switchgear situated within the plastic bottle manufacturing plant of this RWD site, there was a serious overheating within the power factor correction unit of the switchgear. The DetExt F/F system operated to extinguish fire, prevent re-ignition and raise the alarm. The situation may have been totally different if fire had spread into the rest of the switchgear and the manufacturing area of the building!
